Ghutrah, The Ethnic Wear

Ghutrah is a square piece of cloth that is impeccably made from supple cotton. When an Arab dresses up for an occasion, this cloth is wound around the head or folded into a triangle. A bit later, the ghutrah fabric is secured in its place by an agai. The cloth is further embellished with embroidered designs along its border.

About Pure Weaves & Ghutrah

Since its inception, Pure Weaves has always been popular for the production of Swiss voile fabric. As this kind of fabric is made from long-staple yarn, it is produced by sweeping Indian cotton along with optimally pure Egyptian cotton fibre. To produce Ghutrah, the team uses the voile fabric to achieve the perfect moiré effect, luster, and texture. Owing to its weaving pattern, the fabric is quite light in weight, and it reflects intense sunlight. It is because of this very prime reason that the fabric is ideal for making Ghutrah.

Designing 

Every team member invests time and effort to design the fabric, when beginning the designing phase. This phase is carried out by the team on the outskirts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Weaving

Once the team starts with the weaving phase for the white ghutrah,  best looms, like Ruti – C and Rapeirs, are used to produce the fabric. The team uses 25 shaft dobbies to achieve different designs with perfection

Finishing

After the weaving phase, the raw fabric is led through the finishing phase. The entire set of activities is carried out in Switzerland. This helps to present the fabric with the expected and desired texture. 

Flocking

For quality and a crispy finish, the team in Switzerland performs tasks like singeing, bleaching, and mercerizing. Towards the end of the phase, the team members also consider flocking as per the needs of the brand. 

Branding & Marketing

The team will be actively involved with branding and marketing. While the team members think differently concerning branding, they meticulously select partners to distinguish the white fabric. Moreover, the team members also work towards marketing of the fabric on different online platforms. Furthermore, the team also gets in touch with local dealers so that they can showcase the supreme quality fabric at their stores. 

As far as the quality of the fabric is concerned, its GSM is between 65 and 75 gsm. The width of the piece of cloth also varies between 52” and 62”. The yarn, on the other hand, is equivalent to 2/105 Indian/Giza. For a smooth appearance, the team considers using gassed cotton for weaving the ghutrah fabric in UAE.
